When I first discovered this marketing strategy, I thought what now... and wanted to dismiss it before even understanding exactly what it is. So just to get those thoughts out of your head let me explain what it's NOT.

It's not high-pressure selling, a trick or something clever to close your customer.

Now for the good stuff it's about caring so much for your customer they are on a pedestal and feel like they are treated like royalty. It's about offering a high-quality product they will go out of their way to come back to you to purchase.

It's rapport building and relationship building. And it works!

It's old-school, time-tested, and the only marketing strategy that NEVER fails.

Thank goodness we already have an extraordinary, high-quality, product. All we have to do is build an equally extraordinary relationship with our clients.

How do you do that? No hype. No high pressure. No claims you can't prove. Just honest, sincere, relationship building and over-the-top service. In short, we need to treat our customers with the respect they deserve.

Think about it. Why would a customer that is disrespected in any way recommend you to a friend?

Relationship building is the essence of "guilt marketing" and it will take your business to new levels. Always give your customers a little bit extra. Meaning if you run accross something that you know is relevant to them or their business, send it to them by email, private Facebook message or FedEx. They'll appreciate your doing it. And they'll remember you and they will buy from you.

Whenever possible, throw in a few extras and don't charge for them. Or charge a ridiculously low price. That lets them know you really appreciate them as customers and that it's not just about the money.

Because it's never really "just about the money."

How to have a Better Tomorrow than Today.

To have a better tomorrow than today get a very vivid picture of exactly what you want. For me the determining factor to make the do or die decision was 911. It was my "breakthrough" so to speak.

So were were you when the World Stopped Turning?

I gotta tell ya... There is nothing like a life changing event like 911 for us to see the world in a different light. I was about a mile from the pentagon when it was hit. I could hear it, smell the burning, and see the smoke. It was the events that took place for the next week and 1/2 that made me realize I could change this situation and NEVER be put in that situation again... I could choose to have a BETTER tomorrow than today.

A few years before I made the decision to change my future. I had started my own business and looked forward to the day when I could work from home and be my own boss. I wanted to spend more time with my family on our farm. Even though my job was requiring more time and travel I had gotten comfortable with the routine.

I worked for a national non-profit organization who helped people with limited income get training and employment. My position was Kansas State Project Director. We had held a contest for Kansas's outstanding older worker and was accompanying her to DC to be honored with a week long celebration along with all the other state winners. I can still remember when I picked up our KS OOW (outstanding older worker) her sister telling me please bring my sis back home safe. At the time I didn't think much of it. This lady had very limited travel experience in the last several years. Out flight into DC was smooth, we checked into our hotel and other than needing to explain how motels don't use room key's anymore and helping her access her room with a card she was accomidating.

The morning of 911 as I called her room to set a time to pick her up for breakfast I watched as the planes hit the twin towers. There was talk about it in the hallways and elevator, but we didn't really pay much attention till we were eating breakfast and heard the noise, smelled and saw the smoke. On our way back from breakfast we stopped to register for the weeks activities and then it HIT me. Our country was under attack! This wasn't an accident and the noise was another plane crashing into the pentagon!

We were told to go back to our hotel room and wait until the organizers of the event could decide what to do. The hotel rooms were all of a sudden VERY uncomfortable with police helicoptors circling right outside the window. We were told limit our cell phone usage so it wouldn't clog the circuts for the emergency crews. One of the first thoughts that hit me when I actually realized what was going on around me was the "sisters words" to me. "Be sure to bring her back safe"

It was that moment that I knew it was time to go into "fight or flight mode".. I immediatly started seeing what I could arrange to get us out of DC. The roads were blocked so no one could enter the city. Our only choice was to get a taxi out past the road blocks and arrange transportation from outside the city limits. It was an long errie ride down to Virgina Beach that day. I can remember my son Matt (who was stationed in there in the Navy) picking me up about 10 PM that evening.. I was never so glad to see him as I was that night.

For the next week I put together a makeshift office in his living room and made it my JOB to find us transportation back to KS. It took a week for us to secure a rental car for our long journey home. I had flown all over the US but I had never attempted to drive accross country before. We had no choice. I had huge conserns bringing along an 88 yr old passenger... again I had no other options. It's amazing the accomplishments we make when we have no other options. We stopped every 2 hours and walked around the cars at least 5 times, I didn't want her circulation to stop. Every 4 hours we stopped at a sit down restraunt generally Cracker Barrel. We avoided the cities when possible and kept a close eye on the map.

When we pulled into KCI airport to pick up my car it became very real again to me our life as we left it in KS was very different now. My car was barricaded in the parking lot alone.. again I had this errie feeling come over me. It was like an act of congress to get out of the airport that day, and I remember telling myself I'm not coming back here!

It seemed like an eternity to get the last 100 miles to drop off my passenger safely at her sisters house. It was such a relief when she was delivered home safe. The last 2 hours home seemed like a breese, like I had the world in my hands. It was the last 2 hour stint though I had time to reflect back at the last week and made the descision no matter what I wouldn't let something like this happen to me again.

I truly believe everything happens for a reason and for me this reason was to have a breakthrough moment to move ahead with my business and become my own boss.

Our life is exactly as we have created it. To have a better tomorrow you must start dreaming first of what you really want. I've spoke to folks and they will tell me what they really want is more money. Really now it's not the money itself you want it the stuff money will bring you. For some folks they would really just want to spend more time with their family or do more for their family, and that's a good "why" but you must take it one step further than this -- you must focus in on an exact target to achieve it.

Franchise Business on Healthy Aging

My husband Jim called today after meeting with his lipid specialist in Minneapolis. Once again his cholesterol numbers have significantly dropped! At the time of his cardiac arrest 20 years ago, his cholesterol was over 400. For years the number gradually went down. Two years ago it was 179 and last year, after a year of being on Vivix, it was 138. That's when his statins were cut in half. Today Jim's total cholesterol is 97.

RAS - The Mom Factor

At the base of your brain, where all the nerve endings come together to form your spinal cord, there is something about the size of your thumb called the Reticular Formation. This is a real physical, physiological thing. Part of the Reticular Formation is the Reticular Activating System (RAS). The RAS has one job and one job only. Its job is to filter information; and it is superb at what it does. We are constantly exposed to, and bombarded by so much information, data, stimuli and even opportunities, that if we consciously tried to register it all, process it all and think about it all, we would literally go crazy. We would be in a constant state of "overload". So the RAS (which remember, is VERY good at what it does) constantly filters out "extraneous" and "superfluous" information and data. It's like a "Spam Filter" for your mind.

The crucial question then becomes: How does the RAS determine what it needs to filter out? The RAS is constantly asking three questions in order to decide what you need to know and be aware of:

1. Is it my responsibility?
2. Is it important?
3. Does it match my version of'the truth'?

Whatever information, data or stimuli you are exposed to must satisfy all three questions. It's not the best two out of three. It is not a democracy or majority rules. It must satisfy ALL THREE criteria before the RAS will allow you to be aware of it - that includes any opportunities that you come across. Lets look at the first question the RAS asks to see why you may have blind spots and can't see opportunities that are all around you.

1. "Is it my responsibility"? - Have you ever gone someplace you've never been before, in an unfamiliar part of town, as a passenger in someone else's car? After you got there did you realize that you had absolutely no idea how to find your way home? It has probably happened to most of us. On the other hand, had you driven there yourself, would you have been able to find your way home? More than likely.

Why in the first case were you clueless, but in the second case you noticed the gas station on the corner, the white picket fence, the church steeple and all the other landmarks that would help you find your way out of there? Because, in the second case you knew you were responsible for getting there and back. However, in the first case you knew you weren?t responsible, so your RAS decided you didn't need that information, filtered it out and you never saw the important landmarks that could help you find your way home. The "Mom Factor"

I would like all of you mothers reading this to think back to when your first child was an infant (I'm sure the following was true of all of your children, but think especially of your first child). They were just old enough that they had graduated from the bassinet by your bed to their own crib, in their own room down the hall. The first few weeks do you remember how you would be sound asleep in the middle of the night, and out of a sound sleep, all of the sudden you knew that you had to be down the hall checking on your child. You don't know what you heard; you're not even sure that you had heard anything; you just knew you had to be there, and in a heart beat you are wide awake and at that child's bedside making sure that everything is OK.

It's the third time that night that you have been up to check on your child. As you return to your bed, you decide that it is important for your husband to know that THIS! - IS! - THE! - THIRD! - TIME! that you have been up to check on HIS! child. So, you THROW! yourself on the bed and JERK! the covers back over to you, just to make sure your husband appreciates that this is the THIRD! time you have been up ? and your husband sleeps through the whole thing. He never heard you get up, was never aware that you came back to bed, and never even felt you jerk the covers back over.

Now, in some of your homes, later that night, the family dog starts yapping in the back yard. Dad jumps out of bed, throws open the window, shouts at the dog to shut up, comes back to bed - and Mom sleeps through the whole thing. How is it that Mom can hear a virtually inaudible sleeping baby, but can?t hear barking dogs and Dad can hear dogs, but can't hear babies? It's simple ... in your home the roles have been defined such that Mom is responsible for the baby and Dad is responsible for the dog.

Your RAS will filter out any information that you are not responsible for and make you unaware of it.

I've often heard it said that wisdom comes with age. But, that is not true. The only thing that automatically comes with age - is old. That's all you get. Wisdom comes when you accept responsibility for your life. I know 80-year-olds with no wisdom and 18-year-olds with plenty. The difference is that the 18-year-old has accepted responsibility for their life and future, but the 80-year-old is still blaming everyone and everything around them for their stature in life.

All of us spend the first nine months of our lives on a waterbed. It is warm. It is cozy. All of our needs were met without us having to do a thing. Then we are born, the doctor cut the umbilical cord, slapped us on the rear end and then 95% of us spend the next 50 years of our lives looking around for someone else we can plug our umbilical cord into to take care of us. But, it's not someone else's responsibility. And until you take responsibility for your life and future, your RAS will make you blind to opportunities around you.

Top 10 List for More Effective PowerPoint Presentations

How many times have you been the audience for a drawn-out, 50+ lifeless slide show?

Or even worse, have you been a presenter and feel your lost the audience or know they are just hanging around to be nice? Facts are, bad PowerPoint happens to good people, and quite often the person giving the presentation is just as much a victim as the poor souls listening.
Here's a top 10 list to help you add a little pizzazz! to your next presentation.

1. Write a script.
A little planning goes a long way. Many presentations are written in PowerPoint without any sort of rhyme or reason. This is backwards. Since the point of your slides is to illustrate and expand what you are going to say to your audience. You should know what you intend to say and then figure out how to visualize it. Unless you are an expert at improvising, make sure you write out or outline your presentation before trying to put together slides. And make sure your script follows good storytelling conventions: give it a beginning, middle, and end; have a clear arc that builds towards some sort of climax; make your audience appreciate each slide but be anxious to find out what's next; and when possible, always leave 'em wanting more.

2. One thing at a time, please.
At any given moment, what should be on the screen is what you're talking about. Our audience will almost instantly read every slide as soon as it's displayed; if you have the next four points you plan to make on the screen, they'll be three steps ahead of you, waiting for you to catch up rather than listening with interest to the point you're making. Plan your presentation so just one new point is displayed at any given moment. Bullet points can be revealed one at a time as you reach them. Charts can be put on the next slide to be referenced when you get to the data the chart displays. Your job as presenter is to control the flow of information so that you and your audience stay in sync.

3. No paragraphs.
Where most presentations fail is that their authors, convinced they are producing some kind of stand-alone document, put everything they want to say onto their slides, in great big chunky blocks of text. Congratulations. You've just killed a roomful of people. Cause of death: boredom. Your slides are the illustrations for your presentation, not the presentation itself. They should underline and reinforce what you're saying as you give your presentation — save the paragraphs of text for your script. PowerPoint and other presentation software have functions to display notes onto the presenter's screen that do not get sent to the projector, or you can use notecards, a separate word processor document, or your memory. Just don't put it on the screen – and for goodness' sake, if you do for some reason put it on the screen, don't stand with your back to your audience and read it from the screen!

4. Pay attention to design.
PowerPoint and other presentation packages offer all sorts of ways to add visual "flash" to your slides: fades, swipes, flashing text, and other annoyances are all too easy to insert with a few mouse clicks. Avoid the temptation to dress up your pages with cheesy effects and focus instead on simple design basics:

Use a sans serif font for body text. Sans serifs like Arial, Helvetica, or Calibri tend to be the easiest to read on screens.
Use decorative fonts only for slide headers, and then only if they're easy to read. Decorative fonts –calligraphy, German blackface, futuristic, psychotic handwriting, flowers, art nouveau, etc. – are hard to read and should be reserved only for large headlines at the top of the page. Better yet, stick to a classy serif font like Georgia or Baskerville.
Put dark text on a light background. Again, this is easiest to read. If you must use a dark background – for instance, if your company uses a standard template with a dark background – make sure your text is quite light (white, cream, light grey, or pastels) and maybe bump the font size up two or three notches.
Align text left or right. Centered text is harder to read and looks amateurish. Line up all your text to a right-hand or left-hand baseline – it will look better and be easier to follow.
Avoid clutter. A headline, a few bullet points, maybe an image – anything more than that and you risk losing your audience as they sort it all out.
Use images sparingly

There are two schools of thought about images in presentations. Some say they add visual interest and keep audiences engaged; others say images are an unnecessary distraction. Both arguments have some merit, so in this case the best option is to split the difference: use images only when they add important information or make an abstract point more concrete.

While we're on the subject, absolutely do not use PowerPoint's built-in clipart. Anything from Office 2003 and earlier has been seen by everyone in your audience a thousand times – they've become tired, used-up clichés, and I hopefully don't need to tell you to avoid tired, used-up clichés in your presentations. Office 2007 and non-Office programs have some clipart that isn't so familiar (though it will be, and soon) but by now, the entire concept of clipart has about run its course – it just doesn't feel fresh and new anymore.

6. Think outside the screen.
Remember, the slides on the screen are only part of the presentation – and not the main part. Even though you're liable to be presenting in a darkened room, give some thought to your own presentation manner – how you hold yourself, what you wear, how you move around the room. You are the focus when you're presenting, no matter how interesting your slides are. When web conferencing pay close attention to the tone of your voice, your mannerism when you speak, the passion in your voice.

7. Have a hook.
Like the best writing, the best presentation hook their audiences early and then reel them in. Open with something surprising or intriguing, something that will get your audience to sit up and take notice. The most powerful hooks are often those that appeal directly to your audience's emotions – offer them something awesome or, if it's appropriate, scare the pants off of them. The rest of your presentation, then, will be effectively your promise to make the awesome thing happen, or the scary thing not happen.

8. Ask questions.
Questions arouse interest, pique curiosity, and engage audiences. So ask a lot of them. Build tension by posing a question and letting your audience stew a moment before moving to the next slide with the answer. Quiz their knowledge and then show them how little they know. If appropriate, engage in a little question-and-answer with your audience, with you asking the questions.

9. Modulate, modulate, modulate.
Especially when you've done a presentation before, it can be easy to fall into a drone, going on and on and on and on and on with only minimal changes to your inflection. Always speak as if you were speaking to a friend, not as if you are reading off of index cards (even if you are). If keeping up a lively and personable tone of voice is difficult for you when presenting, do a couple of practice run-throughs. If you still can't get it right and presentations are a big part of your job, take a public speaking course or join Toastmasters.

10. Break the rules.
As with everything else, there are times when each of these rules – or any other rule you know – won't apply. If you know there's a good reason to break a rule, go ahead and do it. Rule breaking is perfectly acceptable behavior – it's ignoring the rules or breaking them because you just don't know any better that leads to shoddy boring presentations that lead to boredom, depression, psychopathic breaks, and eventually death. And you don't want that, do you?

Case Study: Mountainbike Madness

Mountabike Madness is a bike shop run by two college friends, Mario and Eva. It’s a real business with a great product and it’s growing nicely. But they’re always interested in finding new ways to get customers to the shop. Along with trying out street teams, the local pennysaver, mailings, sandwich boards and a bunch of other marketing ideas. Eva gets the idea to start to play around with twitter.

Actually, she already had a personal account. So did Mario, so they’re familiar with the nature of conversation in the communities, because they’re already regular users. So, they set up a Mountainbike Madness account and use Mario as the name associated with the account.

They use twitter’s search function and a number of other tools twice a day to find people in their neighborhood who either have some variation of the word bike in their profile or their tweets. They broaden it out to various forms of outdoor activities, too. They see what these potentially likeminded folks talking about, then follow them and join in the conversations they are having.

They also start to share all sorts of funny, quirky, edgy quotes, ideas, and stories. And, here and there, they throw out tweets about instant giveaways for the first person to tweet their favorite rider, grip or trail. They do daily or weekly specials on bikes, parts, clothing and other schwag. They share cool tips and riding strategies and aren’t afraid to show their personalities. They announce weekly Rave Rides where everyone has 4 hours to show at a particular trailhead for an epic group ride. And, once a month, they do a one-day 20% off twitter-only sale from the back of a truck and you have to be following them to know where it will be.

After 3 months, they can track twitter related sales to an average of 30% of daily sales and total sales have gone up 20% since starting on twitter. Not only is it great for their community, for customer service…they’re using social media to put money in the bank.

So there you have it. There are many ways to market online if you aren't considering adding social media to the mix your missing out on a big chunk of profits. Yes there is a right way and wrong way. Be sure to follow those who know how to do it the right way.

When I visit with folks who have always worked for a pay check they generally have lots of aprehensions about starting their own business. For them the "JOB" gives them a sense of security. In fact the corporate banking and government cater to a false sense of "security" of a job rather than a business. Think about the questions your are asked when applying for a loan or how the government statistically ranks your income as a small business owner. (profits vs gross... a good thing)

Unless you have had your head in the sand the last year you are probably starting to realize a "JOB" has no security. I've seen people put their heart and soul into a "JOB" and get layed off or loose their job when the company goes out of business. In a "JOB" you really have no control your lively hood is at the mercy of someone else.

Here's some answer's to a few questions that may be swiming around in your head about starting a business.

How do you know when it is time to quit your day job?

There is no perfect formula to ensure that you are 100% ready to quit your job and start a business—if I could figure it out, I probably wouldn't be writing this. There are a few things you need to think about in making a decision though.

1. You have to have a really clear, realistic picture of your financial life and understand the risks you are willing to take. For some people, this is money investment, for others it is a period of time you set aside for your business to work.

2. You will feel much better about your decision if you have been working on your business on the side of your day job, selling your product or service to real people with real money in the real world. This experience will replace all the paper documentation you would use in detailed business plans and will be the best indicator of readiness to leave your life as an employee.

Isn’t it crazy to start a business in this economy?

With corporations in crisis, job stability a thing of the past, social media ablaze and free and cheap tools available to everyone, this is a great time to start a business. Depending on your financial situation and how far along you are with your business idea, if you find a need in the market that you can serve well, this is an excellent time to run ahead of the pack.

So many people are sitting back in fear and afraid to move.. this gives you the unfair advantage step into new markets. Let me phrase it another way. In the unfortunate case that you get laid off, do you think you would be more happy having started a business on the side or having spent your energy desperately clinging to your job?

How do you decide which business to start?

Business ideas are a dime a dozen. From my perspective, which is firmly rooted in the idea that the purpose of a business is to allow you to live the kind of life that makes you happy, healthy, wise, and wealthy—or at least well-fed, a good business idea has four components.

1. It is rooted in something you are passionate about and which energizes you. Entrepreneurship is too darn hard to manufacture enthusiasm.

2. You have the skill and competence to make it happen—or at least a really great contact list of smart and enthusiastic friends to help you figure it out.

3. You need to do enough business planning to know whom you are trying to serve, and how you are going to make money. Ask your self who is your target market, and how am I going to profit from marketing to them?

4. You want a business model that you have the resources to support and that delivers the life you want to live.

What is the very first step that I should take?

If you are in the very early stages of thinking about a business, spend your time getting to know yourself. One of the best things I discovered is to study yourself as if you were a scientist observing a bug. Pay very close attention to the things that either make you feel great or feel rally bad. Note the kind of environment, work, people, topics, industries, schedule, and activities that make you thrive. When you start your business with this awareness, you will feel natural energy and clarity which will make all the next steps of the process like choosing a business idea, figuring out the money, planning your business, identifying your customers, and creating a marketing process a lot easier.

Should you get started in business and then quit your day job or quit and then get started?

Knowing that your livelihood is at stake, I feel much more comfortable when people get started and then quit rather than quit and then get started. The process of creating your first product or service and getting paying customers is often much different than you imagine and can require more time, resources, and support than anticipated in your planning stage. I have had clients who were in such time-sucking and stressful jobs that they decided to save up a lot of money and then quit so that they could have the time and energy to devote full-time to the business. Also, there is nothing more motivating for getting new business than an impending mortgage payment. Whichever path you choose, make sure you know how much time or money you have to burn and have a few options open for generating income if your business takes longer to get off the ground than anticipated.

If you have limited financial resources, what is the best way to start a business?

Start by testing very small parts of your business. You don’t have to set up a huge infrastructure or print shiny brochures or to buy new equipment. Be ruthless about getting as much information and coaching as you can for free. People are very generous with good content, and you can learn tons by reading smart blogs and attending free teleclasses or seminars. With limited resources, you may want to stay away from businesses that have high operating costs and stick with a web-based model that you can get started for very little investment.

Do you have to have a PowerPoint pitch?

If you have five hours a week to work on your business outside of your day job, save your PowerPoint skills for the office. Some aspiring entrepreneurs will go after venture funding and need to prepare a formal presentation. The more you get in front of real customers and tell a compelling story in few words about how you can solve their problems, the less you will need PowerPoint as a crutch. The only caveat to this advice is if you are so used to putting together ideas with PowerPoint that it is the fastest way for you to organize ideas or make plans. Whatever you do, don’t bombard poor, innocent people in the real world with corporate jargon. You just may find your paradigm is shifted right out the door.

Do you have to have a business plan?

You don’t have to have a complex business plan with 20 attachments and spreadsheets, but you do need to engage in business planning. Know the kinds of problems you are trying to solve, and what value solving them would bring to your customers. Get clear on resources needed to bring your business to life. Start by guessing how many widgets you plan to sell, so at least you have a good laugh the next month when you look at actual sales. But as one of my mentors told me once about projections, they are only guesses for a month. After that, you have real data to compare. So move quickly, test often, fail fast, and discuss and document your assumptions. If you keep everything in your head, you will limit your creativity, and in the long run limit your growth.

What is the fastest way to build buzz about a company?

After few years sitting on the sidelines, I jumped into social media focusing on Twitter. And I am now convinced it is the absolute quickest way to get to know your customers, build relationships with partners and mentors, and get the word out about what you are doing. Of course it cannot be your only marketing strategy, since people hunger for more than 140 character bites of you, but if you aren’t on Twitter, you are missing great opportunities, plain and simple.

What if your spouse doesn’t support your entrepreneurial dreams?

Often spouses don’t support their partner’s dreams because they haven’t gotten an explanation that makes sense to them. You may spend all your time thinking about your business, evaluating the market, and developing your products or services, but your spouse doesn’t see inside your head and understand the reasoning behind your decisions. They also may have serious doubts about your ability to get a business off the ground if it has been five years since you started to re-paint the bathroom and you still haven’t finished. So demonstrate in big and small ways that you can follow through with plans, listen with openness and without judgment to concerns raised, and make a plan that feels like a reasonable amount of risk to both of you. When you go into business, your whole family goes in with you. So be sensitive to concerns.

How do you find the time to work on a side business with a mortgage to pay and a family that needs attention?

With limited time, you have to get crystal clear on priorities inside and outside of work. Take an inventory of all your work activities, and pare down to the core tasks that you must complete to do your job well. Evaluate how you spend your time outside of work. Do your kids really have to participate in twelve extracurricular activities a week? When I was a kid, I spent hours playing dress the kittens with our farm cats or skipping rocks down at the creek. I had a great childhood and have done just fine as an adult. When you are running on a very lean and efficient schedule and have a manageable list of weekly tasks for your business, you will make progress. It is better to take small steps every day—like writing one paragraph of your book or crafting a handful of code—rather than waiting for a huge block of time to open up because this will never happen.

What is the most common mistake the “escapees” make?

The most common mistake is thinking that they have to get all their plans absolutely perfect before launching. I have listened to people explain why they spent two months crafting an introductory email to a potential client. Perfectionism will cripple your business and thwart your plans faster than anything. Get used to pushing things out that feel not quite ready and then be completely responsive to fix them as you go. There will never be a perfect product, service, market or economy, so the most passionate, enthusiastic and responsive entrepreneur will win.

10 Questions To Ask Before You Advertise

So you've decided you need to advertise. Before you do, understand that advertising is not a magic spell you cast over people. It's actually very tough to get real, verifiable, and long-term results from advertising especially if they aren't already looking for what you have. So, if you are going to advertise, ask these questions.

1. How do you meet your buyers' needs? Advertising gets bogged down with price and meaningless business qualifications. "The lowest price with 29 years of experience" means nothing. What need do you fulfill for the buyer?

2. Is your message strong enough to cause people to change their current buying habits? People are not waiting around trying to figure out what to do. They are living life. Your message has to be strong enough to cause them to interrupt their current life habits, and consider buying something else.

3. Does your message give people insight into your business? Advertising is courtship, not a one night stand. If you want to get people to have a long-term relationship, you have to give them insight into the character of your business. Stay away from the superficial and give them your heart.

4. Will people be receptive to your message? Your message should resonate with people. Speak to buyers in their language about what they want to hear. Avoid messages that are aimed at your competition or that talk about things important to you.

5. Where should you invest your money to get the most Bang for your Buck? Think from your customer's perspective. What media do they like to use? Be careful to avoid persuasive media reps selling you something that's not a fit.

6. Are the people exposed to your advertising message the people who are interested and capable of buying your product? It's not just enough to target demographically. Women between the ages of 25-44 do not all live the same way nor do they like the same things. You should also target by lifestyle.

7. How should you design/create your advertising message to be most effective? Be interesting. People are busy and the only thing that can divert their interest is something interesting. Don't be outrageous, be interesting.

8. Will people notice your ad? Advertise where you can stand out and be important. If your budget is small, don't advertise with the largest media. Concentrate your advertising in media where you can achieve importance and frequency. Remember most people need to see or hear your message 7 times before taking action.

9. Will your message annoy or distract people from their basic reason for using that medium? People aren't using the media to hear your advertising message. While you need to be interesting, you also need to be appropriate for the media you are using. Make the flavor of your message fit the media.

10. Is your money better invested on other options? Do you really need to advertise at all? Maybe that money would be better invested improving the customer experience. Advertising alone is ineffective. First, make sure the rest of your marketing is in order. (Hint: The fortune is in the follow-up)

In the next few minutes you will discover a parable that so closely relates my feelings towards Veretekk its uncanny. The Power of Newspaper Ads

Sometimes we get so caught up on online marketing that we overlook one of the oldest most powerful forms of advertising. Good old fashion newspaper classifieds. Wether we want to admit it or not, there will always be a percentage of the population that will still go to the newspaper when looking for something. I still glance at the newspaper just to keep with the pulse of today's offline world. Since the invention of the printing press business owners have been using this method as an effective build businesses.

Newspaper advertising is a very cost effective way to market your business if done correctly. How does it work? Newspaper ads work by getting your message in front of people who are looking, and newspaper ads let you reach more people than you can normally reach by other methods. It also allows you to reach different geographic areas with ease.

What results does this form of advertising produce? Typically 20 to 25 prospects (people requesting more information by filling out my form at barfootboss.biz) for the average daily newspaper per week. Typically 10 to 20 prospects for the average weekly community newspaper. Your numbers may be different depending on what you are promoting.

Ads in the newspaper can be very effective. If placing an ad in the local paper, I recommend the classified section and running it for 3 days only first starting on Sunday or Monday only to see if it generates results. If it doesn't, don't keep running it. I also recommend testing the "business opportunity" section of the paper. Many times this section is a graveyard for advertising, but sometimes it can surprise you and turn out to be a gold mine. You will never know until you test it.

I have also found that weekly community newspapers that are delivered to peoples homes (such as a country newspaper or neighborhood newspaper) tend to produce very good results and sometimes more than daily newspapers. Never run an ad and commit to running it for numerous days on the first run. Any time you run an new ad, always run it one time only and see if it generates any responses. Only after proving itself should you run it more often.

Many newspapers work diligently in keeping any type of "business opportunity" ad out of the employment section. However, there is a simple way in getting your ad placed in the employment section if you run against any obstacles. The key to successful advertising is testing. Try one ad and measure its results. Then modify the ad or use different one to see if it increases results.

I use an online newspaper classified ad service called NationWideClassifieds. I have found they have better prices than if contact I newspapers individually, plus it's easier to keep track of your ads.

If many of my marketing methods seem like a foreign language to you, consider taking your business to the next level with some private coaching. Inside Secrets of Communication

Forget about me for a minute. Let's talk about you.

If you could master certain communication skills, what would they be? What would you like to do? How does this sound: Being the person that people love to talk to. Being able to talk to anybody, grab their attention and keep it as long as you want.

In preparation for communicating on the phone people usually spend time perfecting their "scripts" and trying to get other people interested in them. Some people never worry about their script because there's a sure-fire way to create interest. It works almost every time. For example, my introduction varies (I hate "canned" scripts), but it usually goes something like this:

"Hi this is Cindy McAsey, I help people who want to earn a living in their own business like I do. I continully test new marketing strategies and fine tune my training based on results I get" That's it. Then I quickly switch the conversation topic to something that other people are always interested in: Themselves. People would rather talk about what they do than listen to you talk about what you do.

After a brief sentence about yourself (15 seconds or less), shift the topic by asking: "And what do you do?" This gets them talking. Sometimes that is the only question you need to ask. If you happen to find someone that loves what they do you've just created a conversation. But that doesn't happen all the time. So next ask: "How did you get into that?" or, if they obviously don't care for their job ask "What career would you like to move into?" Then shut up, and listen. Really listen. Pay attention to their tone of voice. Wait until they get excited about something. An aspect of their job or business. Their clients. Their coworkers. A success story. Something.

When you find that "something" ask about it. Just say, "Could you tell me more about that?" Congratulations, you've just created an instant conversation and genuine interest. What if they hate their situation? Not a problem. Just say, "I understand. But what do you enjoy?" Be careful, you could have an hour-long conversation on your hands! When you master this type of introduction you'll also need to master the skill of how to get out of a conversation and move on (that's a subject for another message).

This isn't a new concept, Dale Carnegie said in his book How to Win Friends and Influence People that "You can make more friends in two months by becoming interested in other people than you can in two years by trying to get other people interested in you." How true. This isn't rocket science. It might even sound simple. It is, but it isn't. The next time you have a conversation, become aware of how anxious you are to 1. talk about yourself or 2. add your own opinion. To become an effective networker you have to have the mindset "It's all about the other person".

Keep in mind, people won't always call or approach you. If someone doesn't introduce themself to you, introduce yourself to them. To get started, here's a great icebreaker that works: "Hi". After you say hi DO NOT go into your script, skip it until they ask about you. Move right into the two questions we just talked about:

1. "What do you do?" Get the other person talking about himself or herself.

2. "How did you get into that?" Or "What would you like to do?"

Here are a few alternatives (or follow-ups) to question #2: "What is your favorite part of your career?" "Is that a life long career or a stepping stone?" (If it's a stepping stone, ask "a stepping stone to what?") What do you do when you're not working?

Now you know the secret to successful communication: Get the other person to talk about themself right away. More importantly, get them to talk about something they are passionate about. Become interested in what they're saying. If there's a synergy between the two of you, keep in contact with them. Take action to improve your communication skills, by showing up for my training Tuesday. What is the one mistake many marketers make?

I hope my headline caught your attention...something just dawned on me today. Many networkmarketers pre-judge my primary business, because almost everyone has heard of it and most people think they already know all about it. That is the one mistake many marketers make they dismiss something without even taking a look.

Sometimes we self sabatoge the things we say we want.

I have to tell you when I first learned about Veretekk I dismissed it too, but that was because I didn't fully understand the system. It wasn't until several months later that I saw it re-appear that I decided to take another look. As you know I use the system, talk about it, train how to use it, and plain love the results I get.

Got a question for ya...

Would you start in a new business venture if you knew FOR SURE in 3 years you would make AT LEAST $5000 per month?

I don't know what your answer to this question is but...

For me I would say YES.. if I knew I didn't have to sell the farm to get there.

Granted it does take some money to grow your business, but what if I could say to you that even with a 90% failure rate you could still be making enough to pay for your expenses during those 3 years.

This is next to the worst case scenario guys... the worst thing that could happen is you quit. BIG MISTAKE! Everyday I come into contact with marketers who were in Shaklee or Amway way back 25+ years ago. If those marketers could have stuck it out they wouldn't be still looking for the latest greatest deal! There are so many new companies that promise the moon then go out of business in a couple of years. A word of advise.... YOU MUST FIND SOMETHING THAT YOU CAN STICK WITH!

Before you just jump into a new business you should do your homework and find out exactly how much money, time, and effort it's going to take to earn the income you desire.

It's always a good idea when choosing an new business to aline yourself with a company that can stand with just the products they promote ALONE even if there weren't a business opportunity attached with it. I know distributors in our company that have built huge businesses just selling products NOT recruiting Distributors. To be honest that's where much my bread and butter income comes from. It's customers not distributors.

I personally bring in lots of FREEE customers, because I'm able to ride the wave of 3rd party validation and 50+ years of content about the product. As part of our team you can learn how we do this and take advantage of our team posting channel that consistantly has held top positions on google for over 2 years.

This would embarrass a lot's "Grurus" because it's stuff no one ever talks about cause it just isn't sexy...

It doesn't sound like theinternet marketing dream BUT it can be your key to the golden egg. After all we all want automatic money right? We all want to be able to push a button and watch as 100 dollar bills come spewing out of our PC...and.... ok I'm exaggerating, but that's the dream peddled by the gurus.

Now, don't get me wrong.

I love the fact that my websites give me money whether I work on them or not - I mean, that's the ultimate lifestyle to me. To make money without working. But what if you're starting out and you don't want to stick with your day job until you've made it (after all, depending on how much spare time you have - that could be a long time)

Once you've built your portfolio a bit you can then hawk your skills around other marketers and start charging. Then raise your asking price bit by bit as word gets around that you do a great job.

There are all kinds of things you can do to help out other webmasters, in return you get to master a skill, learn about someone else's business and earn some extra cash that you can put into your own biz.

For the first time since I started marketing online I know without a doubt I have something to offer anyone contacting me about makeing money online. I have put together a portfolio of jobs, products, and services that I know will make earn anyone from any walk of life the opportunity to make a living online if their mindset is right.

Mindset is soo important when considering earning money online. Just as the founder of my primary business has always said. "What you Think, You Look; What you Think, You Do; What you Think, You ARE."

Everyone starts out at a different level when they come online to start making money, some come with lots of marketing experience, some come with none. Some come with lots of technical experience, some come with none. Some have money to invest in a business some have none.. Once people realize that everyone starts at a different level and not to beat up on themselves when they see someone succeeding online before they are. Because of their past experiences they start out at a different level.

I listened in on a recruitment call of a Cardiac Specialist and past cancer research scientist. Now if you don't have any medical background do you think you will start out knowing what they know about health and wellness? Both of those people gave their dues through training and education when they speak about health and wellness people listen. So next time when you see someone joining your company and in 6 months they are at the top of the pay plan give yourself a break and look at what they had done prior to joining the company.

If you feel you are in that mode of not moving forward with your business maybe it's time you found someone one to coach or mentor you. Sometimes someone from the outside looking in the solution can be so simple, but because you are in your business up to you neck you can't see the simple solution.

The Power of Goals and Establishing an Action Plan

I would highly recommend everyone interested in building a business listen to the first Team Up training call in my primary company with Roger Barnett and Rich Higbee. Roger lays out some very fundamental rules of business success that he learned early in his career that have served him very well.

I just listened to the call four times in a row tonight in order to truly let it soak in what Roger was saying. I'm not one to listen to conferences over the phone, but this one caught my eye.

Today, as I passed by the television, I saw another one of those home business commercials. I really was wanting to see who was behind all of these. So I did a search and came up with blog of someone who did the work for me.

Here is what he did to find these...

He went to the site, and and grabbed the name of the company who organized this : Guerra Communications, and googled it.
The first entry on the list was This Article from focalcurve.com .

In the article, the guy mentions each site being hosted on the same ip address, so did a dns query on one of the domains to find the ip address, and then looked to one of my favorite resources - http://whois.webhosting.info/ to show me each website it had in it’s database that was hosted on that ip address. whois.webhosting.info returned this big long list:

Here are some tips that will get you on the right track...

Tip #1 for newbies! Realize Success does not come overnight nor usually with in
the first 6 months. Especially if you are just starting to get your internet knowledge.

Tip #2 Do not try and build Rome in one week. (You have to erect your first
affiliate building (promotion) before you can build an empire). So please don't join 3
dozen programs to promote at the same time, unless you have a small army to help
you.

Tip #3 Now this one is hard for most as so many newbies are attempting to earn
some money on the internet because they're current incomes aren't meeting their
needs and many are even desperate for the extra cash flow. The secret is to Think
like a Buyer Not a Seller. Ask YOURSELF, Would I buy this product? Why? How
does it benefit me? How do I think this product or service would benefit someone

It really is very simple just launch your blog, post your articles and learn as you go along, how to maximize on blogs as marketing tools that will bring a huge difference to your affiliate marketing.

I can hear you asking the question about how you will get enough traffic to your blog. Because the truth is that your affiliate marketing will only work if you get heavy and constant traffic to your blog.

Actually it is very easy. Much easier than it is to send traffic to a web site. I guarantee that you are about to be very amazed. This is not theory or hype, it’s stuff that I do every day and again you will not need to spend any money on advertising.

Actually instant traffic for your blog is possible. All you need to do is register with a good and effective traffic exchange site.

Surfing both sites for your credits can be done at the same time even as you work on a third window. Or you can keep both windows visible on your computer screen at the same time.

Both the sites I have recommended here are set up in such a way that you will earn credits for people you introduce and also for people introduced by people you introduced up to the fifth level. This means that by simply introducing a few of your friends and associates to the sites, you will build up huge daily traffic to your blog without you having to surf other sites, after a certain period of time.

Do traffic exchange sites really work? You bet they do.

Let me address your fears because I had exactly the same fears when I started out. You see traffic exchange sites work because you visit other member’s sites and you earn credits in this way which will enable other members to visit your site.

Usually you have to spend a minimum of 30 seconds at a site before you can click to visit the next site. 30 seconds is a lot of time on the net and although many people may not be interested in what you are offering at your blog, you are bound to find many who will be. In fact the sites allow surfers to mark interesting sites which they can come back to again and again. But even on this first visit there is nothing stopping you from looking around for a few minutes if you find a site interesting.

There is another concern that people who are new to traffic exchange sites usually have and that is the same people visiting their sites over and over again. It is true that members will often end up visiting the same sites over and over again (when you build your credits very high). Actually there is nothing wrong with this in fact it is good marketing.

As early as 1885 a man by the name Thomas Smith was able to observe how we humans react to advertising and he wrote the following: (just replace the word ad with site or blog)

1. The first time a man looks at an ad, he doesn’t see it.
2. The second time he doesn’t notice it.
3. The third time, he is conscious of its existence.
4. The fourth time he faintly remembers having seen it.
5. The fifth time he reads the ad.

9. The ninth time he wonders if it amounts to anything.
10. The tenth time, he will ask his neighbour if he has tried it.
11. The eleventh time he wonders how the advertiser makes it pay.
12. The twelfth time he thinks it must be a good thing.
13. The thirteenth time, he thinks it might be worth something.
14. The fourteenth time he remembers that he wanted such a thing for a long time.
15. The fifteenth time, he is tantalised because he cannot afford to buy it.
16. The sixteenth time, he thinks he will buy it some day.
17. The seventeenth time, he makes a memorandum of it.
18. The eighteenth time, he swears at his poverty.
19. The nineteenth time, he counts his money carefully.
20. The twentieth time he sees the ad, he buys the article or instructs his wife to do so.
